Jonathan Roumie as Jesus in “The Chosen” series
Holy week traditions may be more meaningful as the biblical film “The Chosen: Last Supper” was given the rating of “PG” (Parental Guidance) by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) in time for holy week.
“The Chosen: Last Supper” is a film that commences from season 4 of the Netflix series “The Chosen” starring American actor Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus Christ. The series depicts the events that took place during the Redeemer’s public ministry and the calling of his apostles, while the film tackles his Last Supper — a pivotal moment in the Christian faith when “His word became flesh,” and which introduced the institution of the holy communion among the Catholic faithful — up to His crucifixion and death.

The movie is split into two: Part 1 is about Jesus’ triumphant entry to the holy city of Jerusalem, while Part 2 tackles his arrest and trial.
The MTRCB deemed the movie as “ideal” for family viewing as the holy week draws near, but children still need to be guided by adults.
Under PG rating, viewers 13 and below must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult.
“These films would be better appreciated by young audiences if viewed with adult guidance and supervision,” said MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto-Antonio.
The Board reminds parents and supervising adults to use the MTRCB ratings as a guide when selecting age-appropriate films that are suitable for their family, especially the kids.
